The objective of REAL TALKING in ACTION is to help you learn how to use English effectively in everyday conversations. The complete course includes 60 programs. Audio recordings of the lessons are also available for students desiring more intensive language practice. REAL TALKING in ACTION is divided into functional Tasks. The "Tasks" are short conversational and language practice modules. They focus on the speaker's intent - that means, the specific purpose that the speaker is trying to achieve in using English. The 96 tasks included in these programs present a total of 284 short dialogues which represent a broad range of functions, situations, and settings. The language used is typical of the way American people converse in English. The programs can be used by students at all level. REAL TALKING in ACTION is designed from low intermediate-to-advanced level study programs. - Low Intermediate Level - using the audio lessons and transcription, both high beginning and low intermediate students will quickly learn to function in situations previously reserved only for intermediate students. - Intermediate and High Intermediate Level - with the audio, most intermediate and high intermediate students will gain active conversational ability in using "advanced" functions. - Advanced Level - for advanced students who have been exposed only to traditional textbook materials, the study of Real Talking in Action will transform passive knowledge of grammar rules into communicative ability in English Español El objetivo de REAL TALKING IN ACTION te ayudará a aprender cómo usar el idioma Inglés de manera efectiva en conversaciones diarias. El curso completo incluye 60 programas. Las grabaciones en audio de las lecciones están disponibles para estudiantes que desean practicar el idioma de manera más intensiva. REAL TALKING IN ACTION esta dividido en tareas funcionales. Las tareas son módulos de conversaciones cortas para facilitar la practica inmediata por parte del alumno. Estos módulos se enfocan en la intención del parlante, es decir, el propósito específico que el parlante trata de lograr al usar el idioma Inglés. Las 96 tareas incluídas en estos programas presentan un total de 284 diálogos cortos los cuales representan un amplio rango de funciones, situaciones y ejemplos de nuestras conversaciones diarias. El lenguaje usado es típico de la manera en que los Americanos hablan en Inglés. They are not professional actors and actresses. When they speak to each other, they are speaking spontaneously and naturally - "ad libbing" everything they say. Listener who study and work with these programs will achieve two impotant objectives: (1) Comprehension Ability - by listening to conversations, talks, and interviews, listeners will expand their vocabulary and very rapidly increase their comprehension ability in natural English; and (2) Speaking Ability - by using the simulation ("U-Speak") exercises throughout the course, which give listeners practice in interviewing and conversing with people, listeners will gain confidence in English and greatly improve speaking ability (pronunciation, stress, intonation, rhythm and fluency in English. Real Talking at Work - American Business English - contains a wide range of learning activities with specific with specific learning goals, including the following: a. general vocabulary building - to expand range of listeners' passive /recognition) and active (speaking) vocabulary. b. special vocabulary development - to introduce job-specific terms, expressions, and jargon used in different career situations, and give listeners practice in using special vocabulary; c. comprehension of continuous speech - to provide maximum opportunities for students to hear and learn to comprehend natural speech flow (beyond the isolated sentence level), ranging from short paragraphs to lengthy speeches; d. improvement of pronunciation - to provide opportunities for listeners to practice repeating and imitating the pronunciation of native speakers in the audio materials; e. development of naturalness and fluency - to provide maximum opportunities for students to practice speaking skills, including asking questions to get information, responding to others' questions, interviewing people to get their opinions, etc; and f. cultural information and orientation - to support all language learning activities by providing authentic contexts and cues that enable listeners to develop insights into Western (American) cultural patterns implicit in the way men and women behave and interact with each other in their daily work environment. e. development of naturalness and fluency - to provide maximum opportunities Although Real Talking at Work - American Busines English - was originally designed as an intermediate-to-advanced-level study program, the course can be used by students at all levels: Beginners level - using the audio material, beginning students will quickly learn to function in situations previously reserved only for intermediate students; Intermediate level - with the auditive exercises, most intermediate studentswill gain active conversatioal ability in using "advanced" functions; Advanced level - for advanced students who have been exposed only to traditional textbooks materials, the study of Real Talking at Work - American Business English - will transform pasive knowledge of grammar rules and formal syntax into communicative ability in English.
